Joe Cipriano & His SOVAS Lifetime Achievement Award

No one has had more of an impact on my career than Joe Cipriano, aka “Cip.” Easily one of the most recognizable voices in the world, Joe has done it all–radio, movie trailers, narration, and (by far his biggest success) TV promo. Joe’s been THE voice of several networks, including CBS and NBC, and has done thousands of promos for every type of programming, from news to comedy (The Simpsons, anyone?) to drama. He’s voiced the Academy Awards and other awards shows many times. And he’s even written a book about his life on the air, not surprisingly titled Living On Air. He is also known for his role in Lake Bell’s hilarious voice over movie, “In A World…”

He’s also a wonderful friend, not just to me but to so many in the business. People just love Joe. He brings joy and good luck everywhere he goes. And he has stories for days, having worked with or for pretty much everyone who matters in the broadcasting world.

On Sunday, Dec. 8, Joe was presented by singing star and longtime wife of the great Don LaFontaine, Nita Whittaker, with the Society of Voice Arts and Sciences Lifetime Achievement Award. It was a privilege to be there with him and his family and so many of his close friends.
