Don LaFontaine Voiceover Lab Hobnobbery
The great Don LaFontaine is well known to most voice over people–he voiced thousands of trailers and even more TV promos over decades before his passing more than 15 years ago. On Thursday, Sep. 19, the Meryl Streep Center at the main SAG-AFTRA union headquarters in Los Angeles hosting a VIP gathering for the opening of the newly revamped Don LaFontaine Voice Lab, and it was more than special. Among the lights were Foundation director Cyd Wilson and VO heavies such as Paul Pape, Joe Cipriano, Rino Romano, Dave Fennoy, Beau Weaver, and too many other VO heavies to name.
Don’s family was there to honor the man and his legacy as well as inspect the new lab. It was frankly amazing–fantastic equipment an learning areas will host many classes, workshops, and panels as well as allow SAG members to practice and record auditions and jobs right from the Lab.
Jack
Jack Daniel works in network and affiliate TV promo, movie trailers, commercials, corporate narration, radio imaging, and documentary/in-show narration. Jack is proud to voice for ABC in New York, ESPN, MLB, NHL, NCAA Football, Nickelodeon, and NBC Sports, and he has been the promo voice of CBS/Paramount+’s “The Harper House” as well as multiple shows on TBS and The Weather Channel. In trailer, Jack has voiced trailers for such movies as The Instigators, The First Omen, Golda, Pinocchio, Jackass Forever, The Suicide Squad, Ford v. Ferrari, The Witches, Birds of Prey, The Good Liar, Men in Black, Stuber, and Super Troopers, among many others. His commercial VO includes national campaigns for Jack in the Box, Old Spice, Shelter Insurance, CA Lottery, and Publisher’s Clearing House, and the CA Lottery. Jack’s narration work includes Investigation Discovery’s “Murder Loves Company,” TruTV's "Top Secret Videos," and ABC daytime. He’s also voiced game trailers for such properties as “Evil Dead: The Game.” You may also have heard his voice in movies such as "Elvis," “Being the Ricardos,” and “Ad Astra.”
