The great Don LaFontaine is well known to most voice over people–he voiced thousands of trailers and even more TV promos over decades before his passing more than 15 years ago. On Thursday, Sep. 19, the Meryl Streep Center at the main SAG-AFTRA union headquarters in Los Angeles hosting a VIP gathering for the opening of the newly revamped Don LaFontaine Voice Lab, and it was more than special. Among the lights were Foundation director Cyd Wilson and VO heavies such as Paul Pape, Joe Cipriano, Rino Romano, Dave Fennoy, Beau Weaver, and too many other VO heavies to name.

Don’s family was there to honor the man and his legacy as well as inspect the new lab. It was frankly amazing–fantastic equipment an learning areas will host many classes, workshops, and panels as well as allow SAG members to practice and record auditions and jobs right from the Lab.
